Centre for Clinical Research
For a number of years, RHN has greatly increased its focus on research. An important factor in this process was to establish the Centre for Clinical Research in 2009.
The Centre was established in cooperation with Aalborg University and it maintains a strong cooperation with the university. This has laid the groundwork for a research environment that continues to grow at the Hospital.
The Centre is able to guide and support certain research areas. It is also a significant task for the Centre to create connections and access to other research environments that are outside of what can be handled at RHN.
The departments and laboratories of the Hospital are all utilized in the research work. The purpose of this is that the research carried out at RHN is associated to the Centre, partly to gather knowledge about the projects in one place and partly to create a broader base for guiding and further developing the research effort at RHN.
Leader for the Centre is professor, chief physician, ph.d. Peter Leutscher

If you want to participate in research and developmental work
There are many opportunities to do research at the Centre for Clinical Research (CKF) at the North Denmark Regional Hospital (RHN). We have the framework, the network and the facilities to support you in realizing your project, regardless of whether you are working on a large ph.d.- project or a smaller developmental project.
At CKF we gather research competencies from a broad range of departments and professions. This means that as a user of the Centre, you have vast opportunities to enter into interdisciplinary cooperation and to share the latest experiences and research results with others.
We have one leg planted in RNH and the other in the Clinical Institute at Aalborg University. This enables us to make use of the expertises and resources of both places to the benefit of you and your project.
In addition, we have a strong network of collaborators both nationally and internationally and can help you gain connections and access to other research environments with the right expertise.
Ph.D. students have a workroom at CKF. This offers both peace to work and the option of sparring with other students who are at different stages of their projects. At the same time, it offers easy access to the resources of the Centre such as molecular biological laboratories.
Staff at the Centre
Currently, there are approximately 14 employees at the Centre. This includes doctors, molecular biologists, nurses as well as other scientific, health and administrative staff who are all able to assist you with your project.
In addition, approximately 14 ph.d.- students are connected to the Centre.

Possibilities for support and assistance
The Centre can offer you access to a number of services that you are able to make use of in your research and development project. This includes assistance with statistics and fundraising.
Much more than ph.d.
A number of ph.d.- scholarships have ascribed to CKF and the Centre assists ph.d. students with their projects in a number of ways. However, a ph.d. is not the only way to connect to the research and development environment.
If you want to grow both personally and professionally and have ideas for research and development, you should get in touch with us. We are happy to help get you started, both with your own development and innovation projects and as part of other people’s research projects.
Training of medical students
The Centre cooperates with Aalborg University, Institute for Medicine and Health Technology in the bachelor education of medical students and students with a specialty in Industrial Medicine. The students participate in clinical training at RHN in Hjørring, Frederikshavn, Thisted and Brønderslev in order for them to obtain practical experience in patient communication.
